Compared with Gasoline…..

gas prices and others: interesting thoughts…

Subject: Compared with
Gasoline…..

Think a gallon of gas is expensive? (In the US,
gas is averaged at $2.50 US/gallon – Aug. 2005)

This makes one
think, and also puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29
………. $10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19
…………$9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ……………..
$10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 ……….. $10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ………….. $33.60 per gallon

Vick’s
Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ………. $178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85
….. ……$123.20 per gallon

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ……………….
$25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 ……………………$84.48 per
gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER…

Evian water 9 oz
$1.49……….$21.19 per gallon?! $21.19 for WATER

and the buyers don’t
even know the source. (Evian spelled backwards is
Naive.)

So,
the next time you’re at the pump, be glad your car doesn’t run on
water,
Scope, or Whiteout, or God forbid Pepto Bismal or Nyquil.

Just a
little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the
pump…

You Are The Carpenter

You Are The Carpenter

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of
his plans to leave the house-building business and live a leisurely life with
his wife enjoying his extended family. He would m iss the paycheck, but he
needed to retire. They could get
by.

       The contractor was sorry
to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a
personal favor.  The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see
that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used
inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career. When
the carpenter finished his work the employer came to inspect the house. He
handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my
gift to you."

       The carpenter
was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house,
he would have done it all so differently.

So
it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than
our best into the building. Then with a shock we realize we have to live in
the house we have built. If we could do it over, we’d do it much
differently.  But we cannot go
back.

       You are the carpenter.
Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. "Life is a
do-it-yourself project," someone has said. Your attitudes and the choices you
make today, build the "house" you live in tomorrow.  Build
wisely!

Remember… Work like you don’t need the
money.
Love like you’ve never been hurt.
Dance like nobody is
watching.

Peace Country Gospel Jamboree

Hi Everyone, 🙂

Last weekend, the long weekend in fact, we went to the Peace Country Gospel Jamboree near Beaverlodge, Alta.  My family and I had a great time listen to the country (and bluegrass) music.  The very last performers were Ricky Skaggs and his band.  But it was disappointing that at the beginning of Ricky Skaggs one and a half hour performance, it started to rain. (Ricky Skaggs asked “How come every time I come to Canada, it wants to rain?”) Most people stayed for the Ricky’s performance.  George Canyon also was their (performing 3 times for about 50 minutes each time) and people say that more people may have come to see George Canyon than Ricky Skaggs. Most people there may have been Mennonites (my relatives being some).  Tim Lovelace, a musician/comedian (christian of course) was also there, but his wife couldn’t be there due to the recent birth of their child.  We bought one of his DVDs and the boys have just enjoyed watching it.
Also today, since Telus/Telecommunications Workers Union is on strike, Bell is flying a blimp like air craft advertising their phone company.  I took some pictures, and they will be posted in a few days, so check back for updates.  My cousin’s (TELUS) phone broke down and it hasn’t gotten repaired yet, probably due to the TELUS Strike.  The blimp is still out there somewhere.  It was first spotted (by us) around 11:30, and is still flying after about 3 hours of flying.  Remember that pictures are coming soon.
We had plans to go camping after the jamboree.  Andrew was not feeling to well the day we were going to go.  We decided to go home instead.  The following day after we came home, I got a headache.  And if we had gone camping, we would have missed that Bell Blimp flying around town. I hope we go camping another time instead.

Camp Sagitawa

I had great fun at Camp Sagitawa.  It was raining most of the time, but we still managed to have fun, including playing wide game in the (pouring) rain.  At one time while we where sitting in our cabin, the rain was pouring so hard that we could barely hear ourselves talk. We even had a lightning storn (one struck within a 1/4 mile of the chapel at Camp Sagitawa) that included rain and (small, but lots of) hail.

Camping was great too. I enjoyed going on bike rides the most.  And making S’mores (my favorite).

I’ll be going to see the AirShow in town, where the Snowbirds are performing.  The Snowbirds were actually flying over the city today.  We saw them a total of 3 to 5 times today.  And we’ll probably see more of them tomorrow.

School is Out!

School is out for good!

Hi Everyone

School is finally out for the summer.  We went to a pizza restaurant to celebrate that there is no more school.  Next year, however, I will be attending juniour high, as I am now in Gr. 8. I just can’t wait until September.  Meanwhile, we have a camping trip that we are going on tomorrow, and we have to get ready and start packing.  We’ll be away from home for three weeks straight.  I’ll enjoy it when we get back home after our holidays.  While, I write once more tomorrow morning before we leave. I hope everything is packed by then.

Feild Trip CONT’D

Hi

Today, our class went on an all-day field trip that lasted from 9:45 to the end of the school day.  The first thing we did after 9:45 was take a bus to our local gym and play at their wallyball courts.  We then after playing there until 11:45, walked to Boston’s to have lunch.  After having a great lunch, we walked to the culture centre as our bus had not arrived. We went to our public library and looked at some books.  When our bus had arrived, we then rode the bus to our local bowlong alley.  We bowled there until 2:15. During that time, we were able to play 1 1/2 game of bowling. I lost my first game and came in very last.  And then in the second game, I got a strike on my first turn.  I could not believe it.  I kept the reign for 3 turns until I was tied with another player.  We the walked back to the school  I enjoyed this day a lot
